Fanjeaux
Fanjeaux (occitan: Fanjaus ) is a common French, located in the department of the Aude and the area Languedoc-Roussillon.
Its inhabitants is called Fanjuvéens.

Blazon nement of the commune: Of mouths to the cross cléchée, emptied and pommetée of twelve gold coins, with the bent chief of azure charged with three flowers of gold lily also.
History
At the 2nd century, a oppidum strengthened the hill where Fanjeaux is. A pagan worship was celebrated at the place of a Résurgence dedicated to Jupiter. Its name comes then from the Roman: Fanum Jovis .In 1193, the bishop cathare Guilhabert de Castres is established in Fanjeaux. Saint Dominique founds there the order of the Dominicains in 1215. Between 1209 and 1214, Fanjeaux is the general headquarter of Simon de Montfort. The Council of Lateran in 1215 fact Simon de Montfort the count of Toulouse and Dominican official preachers of catholic orthodoxy.
The city is destroyed by the black Prince in 1355. It will be rebuilt then will thrive thanks to the Pastel.

Appointment of the historical research
In Fanjeaux are held every July since 1965 of the conferences on the religious history of the medieval South. These conferences are published in the editions Privat in the collection of the Cahiers of Fanjeaux . Devoted to the Justices of Church in the South, XIe-XVe S. , the 42e volume of the Cahiers of Fanjeaux must appear in October 2007.
