Famous persons

the Famous persons is a daily program high-speed motorboat of the radio RTL. The first emission took place in 1977. It is directed by Philippe Bouvard since April 1st, 1977 and celebrated its ten thousandths in November 2004. She was elected " radio broadcast of the siècle".

She comes from an old radio program of before and from post-war period called " Incollables" , animated by Robert Beauvais.

She consists in raising questions with an small group of guests, selected for their humor and their direction of distributed. These guests can put questions with the organizer to be directed.

The emission is recorded in advance (in 2006, the morning of Monday and Wednesday) and rather often treats topical questions.

Currently (since July 2006), diffused 16:00 with 18:00, the emission is made up of a quarter of very hot been useful topicality, a quarter of cultural or comparable questions like such (often difficult), a quarter of elements external with telephone calls and a quarter of guests of seasoned honor of “Gallic” jokes.

The emission always starts and ends in a quotation whose it is necessary to guess the author (generally, Alphonse Allais, Tristan Bernard, Sacha Guitry, Woody Allen, Pierre Desproges, Jean Yanne, Oscar Wilde, etc). Let us note that the response to the question of end is always found exactly at the time to return the antenna, whatever the assigned time. This is due, of course, with the final assembly of the emission, after the recording.

Certain questions are put by the listeners (among them, feue Mrs. Leprieur which was that which sent the most questions) and can bring back 300€ to them (1000 F then 2500 F before the arrival of the euro) if the answer is not found by the guests. The expert of service, in general contacted by telephone, is Jean Dutourd, which finds, in practice, almost all the answers. Other questions are composed by assistants of the radio and are affublées of a whimsical name of author, such as: Mrs. Bellepaire de Loches, Mrs. Trou of Basle, Mr. Sapan d' Houilles, Mr. Legrand of Angers, Mr. Jules d' Orange, the Hoquet Father…

The emission was in partnership during a few years with the tele magazine: Tele 7 days.

Re-entry 2000: the Dechavanne episode

With the re-entry of 2000, the persons in charge of the station (in particular Stephan Duhamel, the new owner, specialist in publicity and marketing), estimated to be able to do without the services of its organizer of reference, which had just exceeded the 70 years age, to replace it by Christophe Dechavanne. In three months, the fall of audience of at least 600.000 listeners showed that the success of the emission held as much with its formula that with the attachment of the public to a team, and the radio one decided to stop it. One of the ex-accomplices of Philippe Bouvard commented at the time (according to Canard Enchaîné of December 13rd, 2000) that with Bouvard, one mixed jokes of cabinet and quotations of Marcel Proust. The problem of Dechavanne, it is that not only its guests dried on the questions, but that also was unaware of the answers to him. As for Duhamel, it would have been enough for him to twice take the taxi in Paris to know the reaction of the standard listener . The failure of Dechavanne benefitted competition, in particular with the emission of Laurent Ruquier on Europe 1 (whose Philippe Bouvard made a passage flash with the antenna of Europe 1).

The emission forever déprogrammée in Belgium under the Dechavanne era: Philippe Bouvard it forever forgotten and since then maintains of the special relationships with his Belgian listeners.
