Family of Damas
The Famille of Damas is old and noble house of France, known since the 11th century and which especially played a part at the 19th century.
Their weapons were gold to the cross moline of mouths .

Branches of the house of Damas
The house provided very many branches, among which:- Damas of Anlezy
- Damas of Antigny : at the 17th century, the Damas d' Antigny acquired the castle of Pravins with Blacé, and that of Breuil with Monthieux; their main home was with Trévoux. In 1774, they made build by Mathurin Cherpitel the hotel of Damas d' Antigny, with Paris (current embassy of South Korea). Marie Judith of Vienna, marchioness of Damas d' Antigny (1699-1781) renovated the Château of Commarin. His/her daughter, Alexandrine of Damas d' Antigny, married of Charles-Daniel of Talleyrand-Périgord, and was the mother of Talleyrand. Joseph of Damas d' Antigny took part in the escape of Louis XVI in 1791.

- Damas of Couzan : the first Damas of Couzan was Renaud II Damas de Cousan (< 1250 - > 1293), wire of Guy Ier Damas and Dauphine of Lavieu. Of this branch Guy IV from Damas de Couzan is resulting (~ 1335 - 1428), Great chamberlain of France. It seems to die out at the 14th century.
- Damas the Crux : the seigneurery of Crux falls in 1362 in the house of Damas by the marriage of Hugues of Damas, lord of Marcilly, with Philiberte of Crux. The Damas-crux is set up in county at the 17th century, and disappears in 1846 with Etienne from the Damas-Crux.
- Damas of Digoine : Digoine enters in 1390 the house of Damas by the marriage of Robert Damas with Marie of Digoine. The branch of the Damas de Digoine disappears at the 17th century.
- Damas of Esthieuges : the possession of the seigniory of Esthieugues by the Damas is attested end of the 15th century at the 16th century

- Damas de Marcilly : Jacques of Damas (<1405- >1450) and his Jean son of Damas (< 1462 - > 1488) (cf Damas de Thianges) were lords of Marcilly.
- Damas de Marillac

- Damas of Thianges : principal branch. It is resulting from the marriage in 1472 of Jean of Damas (< 1462 - > 1488) with Anne De Digoine de Thianges. François Damas de Thianges (< 1560 - 1615) and his/her son Charles Damas (< 1599 - 1638), count de Thianges, brigadier, general lieutenant of the countries of Bresse and Charollois, was knights about the Holy Spirit. The branch dies out with the girl of this last, Léonore, which marries in 1649 Philips Of the Borough of Maine.
- Damas de Vaux
- Damas of Vertpré : this branch is resulting from the Damas de Champléger. It dies out in 1733 with the count Gilbert of Damas (~ 1660 - 1733), lord of Vertpré, Bernage and Vanoise, Brigadier, knight of the Ordre of Saint-Louis, died without alliance.
