Basarabi , or Bessaraba

This family which played a historical part in the regions located between the Dniester and the Pruth, claimed to go down from the imperial family of the Cantacuzène. She provided to the Valachie several Voïvode S and left her name to the Bessarabia, which was a long time under its dependence.

Origin
