Faly Kouyaté is a Guinean musician, singer, player of Kora and Balafon, born in 1966 with Siguiri (Guinea). He lives with Brussels (Belgium) since 1994.

Biography

Faly Kouyaté is not a musician recognized in the whole world. It is resulting from the most famous family of griots of Mandingue, area of West Africa including the Guinea, the Mali, the Gambia, the Senegal, Burkina Faso. Faly was formed in the greatest rigor of the traditional artists of West Africa. It opens nevertheless very early with the currents of the most universal musics (world music, rock'n'roll, funk, jazz,…).

Thanks to the label of Peter Gabriel “Real world”, Faly Kouyaté became full member of the group of techno world Afro Celt Sound System what gave the opportunity to him to be pointed out on all the best scenes of the world such as Cambridge, WOMAD (Glastonbury, Australia, Singapore, South Africa), Central Park (New York), Dranouter.

Faly Kouyaté does not have its own group, Dunyakan, and also collaborates with the groups Urban Trad and Ialma.
