False-stay or releasable stay is a cable going down from the Mât, tilted forwards and intended to take again the efforts of the mast to the paces of close. This rope allows, especially, of gréer another Foc or a Trinquette and is " largable" in order to facilitate the passage of the jibs at the time of the tackings.
