Féerie ( Fairyland ) is a Romance of Science-fiction of Paul J. McAuley, published in 1995.
Féerie was rewarded by two prices and was greeted like the first novel putting in scene a universe Biopunk: “Romance of speculative fiction genetically modified whose writing is rolled up with pleasure in the DNA of marvellous” as it defined Philippe Curval who also made to work a somewhat moderate criticism.
Féerie plunges us in a future Postcyberpunk where the headstocks are creatures genetically modifées containing human DNA used like esclaves.
Une young girl, Milena, persuades a Bio-hacker, - Alex Sharkey -, to help it to transform the headstocks androïdes into fairies. Alex succumbs to the charm of the young girl before it disappears. Obsessed by its disappearance, it continues the traces of the fairies everywhere in Europe, persuaded which they are controls by the young girl.
