Fairfield is a city located in the county of Fairfield, in the State of the Connecticut (the United States). According to the census of 2000, Fairfield had a total population of 57.340 inhabitants.

According to the Office of the Census of the United States, surface of the east city of 81,1 km ², including 77,8 km ² of grounds and 3,4 km ² of water levels (either 4,15%).

Demography

According to the Census of 2000, there were 57.340 inhabitants, 20.397 households, and 14.808 families in the city. The Population density was of 737,2 hab/km ². There were 21.029 houses with a density of 270,4 maisons/km ². The ethnic decomposition of the population was: 95,27% white; 1,09% black; 0,06% Amerindian; 2,04% Asian S; 0,03% natives of the islands of the Peaceful ; 0,55% of the other races; 0,97% of two or more races. 2,34% of the population were Hispanique or Latino of any race.

There were 20.397 households, of which 33,9% had children of less than 18 years, 61,8% were married couples , 8,5% had a woman who was isolated relative, and 27,4% were not-family households. 22,0% of the households were made up people alone and 10,3% 65 years people alone or more. The average household comprised 2,61 people and the average family had 3,07 people.
