A fair with the questions, by Retro-acronymie starting from the Acronym English FAQ for Frequently Asked Questions (“frequently put questions”), is a Liste making the synthesis of the Question S posed in a recurring way about a given subject, accompanied by the corresponding answers, which one writes in order to avoid that the same questions are always rested, and to have to answer it constantly. This practice is primarily present on Internet, initially on Usenet, where it holds of the tradition.

In its direction first, this term refers exclusively to the lists of questions and answers usually met in connection with a precise subject. However, by abuse language, it is sometimes used for:

  • only one couple question/answer;
  • of the lists of questions/answers which all are not frequently posed;
  • any document intended to clarify a certain subject ( Directions for use of an apparatus, analyzes of a text, etc).

There is plethora of FAQ available on the most varied subjects. Certain sites catalog them and make it possible to make research on those available (see Internet FAQ Consortium).
