Fair blonde one

Fair Blonde one (1966) is a disc of Bob Dylan, American Auteur-compositeur-interprète of Folk - Rock. It is the first double album of the history of the music Rock.

It was a business success (coming after Highway 61 Revisited which had been very received) although purists of the music Folk did not accept fusion with the music Rock.

The recording

After its concert discussed with the festival Folk de Newport, Dylan made other concerts in August 1965 for which it had to recruit new musicians (Mike Bloomfield and Harvey Brooks who had played on Highway 61 Revisited were taken by their own obligations). Dylan took Robbie Robertson and Levon Helm which belonged to the group “The Hawks”, then in the second time it agreed to take all the group “The Hawks” like guides.

Dylan started to record the album in October 1965, then Levon Helm left the group, not supporting more the hostile reactions of part of the public during the concerts of Dylan.

The recording was not very productive, and took again really only on January 25th, 1966, with musicians of studio and Robbie Robertson. " Leopard-Skin Hat" Pill-Box; and " One off Custom Must Know (Sooner gold Later) " were recorded at this time there.

According to the proposal of the producer, Bob Johnston, the recording of the album continued with Nashville with Al Kooper (piano), Charlie Mc Coy (guitar), Wayne Moss (guitar), Joy South (low guitar) and Kenny Buttrey (battery).

" Sad-Eyed Lady off the Lowlands" was recorded at the dawn of February 16th, Dylan surprised its musicians who expected a piece of 2-3 minutes, it lasted 11 20s minute! The following day, it is another long 7 minute old piece which was recorded: " Stuck Inside off Mobile with the Memphis Again." Blues;

After having made a series in concerts with “The Hawks”, Dylan took again the recordings on March 8th with eight new songs which it had composed meanwhile: " Absolutely Sweet Marie, " " Just Like has Woman, " " Pledging My Time" , " Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I' L Go Mine), " " Temporary Like Achilles, " " Rainy Day Women #12 & 35, " " Obviously Five Believers, " " I Want You, " and the final version of " Leopard-Skin Hat" Pill-Box;.

In the final analysis, it had recorded enough songs to make an double album.
