Faidherbia albida
The balanzan , name scientific Faidherbia albida (syn Acacia albida ) is a Arbre of big size very frequent in Africa.
It is perhaps most known of the “useful trees” of the the Sahel, that the peasants preserve in their fields. This tree meets however in practically in all Africa.
Resisting the Dryness, the Acacia albida is the only tree of the the Sahel to lose its sheets in rain season and to reverdir during the dry season. It then offers a shade and a Fourrage appreciated cattle.
It feeds in the ground water deep and does not compete with the cultures; on the other hand its litter improves the grounds. The tree also provides wood and the Tannin of its bark, its fruits and its sheets are used in the traditional Pharmacopée.
It tree is only the species of kind Faidherbia .
