Fadwa Touqan
Fadwa Touqan (rear RTL فدوىطوقان) born in 1917 in Nablus and dead the December 12th 2003 with Nablus was a famous Palestinian poetess in all the Arab Monde under the name of " poetess of Palestine". It one of the rare feminine voices of Palestinian poetry. It started to publish its poems under the Dananir pseudonym
. Its first writings are funeral elegies, where it combines with female the expensive topics with the Romantisme: the Natural , the Love, the Loneliness, sadness, distress. After the Nakba of 1967 and the occupation of the the West Bank and Gaza Strip, its poetry is directed towards nationalist topics.
Son brother, the poet Ibrahim Touqan, had initiated it with poetry and had taught him the rules from the classical Arabic prosody but she suffered as a child nondesired in her ultra-traditional family, with a despotic father and a subjected mother. It east can be this situation which probably pushed Fadwa to base in Nablus a research center on the situation of the women.
In its Autobiography “the Rock and the sorrow”, she tells the history moving by sound Enfance and of sound Adolescence locked up in the family rigidity and rules “ My Histoire, it is the history of the fight of a seed to the catches with the rocky and hard ground. It is the history of a combat against the dryness and the rock ”. It specifies that its time “ was that of control ” and its space “ that of the prison domesticates ”. The influence of its vocation as a Poet and helps it of his/her brother enabled him to find a freedom personal.
In the second volume of its memories, Touqan tells its sufferings and its hopes for a durable peace and speaks about his/her Palestinian friends, and Israeli, and of comprehension and the support that they testified to him. Many prices rewarded its work.
Touqan died in the hospital, in the one Friday night the December 12th 2003, after having spent several days in the coma following an attack.
