Factor of authentification

The factor of authentification is a physical factor, Cognitif or Biologique producing a Empreinte that a user can take to be authenticated by a computing system. The Empreinte must be personal with the user and must be able to be digitized.

Types of factors

Four types of factors answer these prérequis:

; Factor mémoriel (what it knows)

  • Empreinte: information which he memorized.
  • Examples: the name of his/her mother or a Password.

; Material factor (what it has)

; Body factor (what it shows)

  • Empreinte: a body trace which it can leave some share.
  • Examples: a Digital fingerprint, characteristics of its pupil, its voice.

; Reactional factor (what it does)

    • Empreinte: a gesture which it can reproduce.
    • Examples: its signature.

The type of factor most usually used on Internet is the factor mémoriel. The rise of the Phishing pushes the Application S on line to surmount the simple Authentification traditional with a second factor of authentification (strong Authentification).

Ambiguity

According to perceptions, classification can become dubious when the Empreinte is Virtuel it, like a cookie for example. But if a Empreinte Virtuel is single and that it is registered on a Hard drive, then it answers well the definition of a Empreinte of the material type.
