Facial value
In economy, the facial value is the value which convention gives to an object.
There is also the metal value of an object, which is summarized with being the value of its various components/materials.
For example, the first currencies were manufactured with a percentage of gold in the coin, which gave its metal value, and which was taken as facial value. The Germinal Franc (in 1803) had a ratio of 290,3225 gold Mg for a Franc. The current coins have a metal value which is lower than that of their facial value.
