Facial solid mass

The facial solid mass is formed by 13 Os welded between them by fibrous articulations called joinings, 7. With the Mandible, they form the Face.

These thirteen bones are:

The joinings are:

  • the fronto-nasal joining enters the nasal Os and the frontal bone
  • the two joinings fronto-jawbones between the nasal Os and the bodies mandibulaires
  • the two joinings fronto-zygomatics between the frontal bone and the zygomatic Os S
  • the two joinings maxillo-zygomatics between the zygomatic Os S and the bodies mandibullaires

Certain bones of the facial solid mass contain sines (air cavities) which will come to drain in the nasal cavity.

They are the two bones jawbones which carries the Dent S of the upper jaw. The fourteenth bone is the only mobile bone of the face: in fact the bone mandible is carrying the teeth of the jaw lower. This bone articulates each side with the temporal Os at the base of cranium. With the skeleton of the face can be attached the Os hyoïde, located at the base of the Langue and on which fit many Muscle S of the language.
