Fabre Geffrard
Fabre Geffrard (Handle-with-Calf September 23rd, 1803 - Kingston (Jamaica), December 31st, 1878) is a politician Haiti in. He was president of the Republic of Haiti, of 1859 to 1867.
He occupied the high positions in the army under the government of Faustin Soulouque and under the Empire. Dissociating from this mode, he proclaimed initially the Republic with the Gonaïves and obtained the sympathy of the country. This act led to the abdication of Faustin Ier, which had initially tried to resist. He immediately became the life president of Haiti, and remained nearly eight years to the capacity. To its resignation, it went to Kingston (Jamaica), where it returned the heart, on December 31st, 1878.
