Fab lab

Fab lab (contraction of laboratory manufacture) is a workshop made up of machine tools controlled by computer which can manufacture about anything. That includes the products which cannot be manufactured on large scales. Its use in certain Third World countries already makes it possible some insolated villages to generate to them-even untraceable products and/or of an inaccessible price. Its authors hope for one day to make of it a peripheral running of the computers, allowing the creation of new objects, or the realization of objects directly starting from plans available freely on the Web.

Fab lab indicates the whole of the tools (Fraiseuse of precision, Jigsaw, laser Découpeuse) and of the software requirements to the use of the tools.

The program Fab lab belongs to the MIT' S (Massachusetts Institute off Technology) Center for Bits and Atoms (CBA), which explores the bonds between the Information and its physical representation.
