FV-102 Striker

FV-102 Striker is a vehicle anti tank S British of the family of the tracked fighting vehicles of recognition.

General information

Striker is the vehicle of the family of CVR (T) which allows the transport and the shooting of the Missile S wire-guided anti-tank devices Swingfire.

Five missiles are at station, ready to be drawn on a slope with the back from the machine and five others are ready to be reloaded. The slope of shooting of pupil of 35° at the time of the firing. The system of aiming can be dismounted to be used in version unloaded, in order to optimize the camouflage of the gunner whereas the machine remains with cover. This is made possible by the fact that the missile can turn of 90° once drawn.

The missiles are equipped with an explosive head and are guided, at the origin, by a system of joystick with which the gunner was to follow its target. The last versions have a semi-automatic system of aiming with through which the gunner locates its target to acquire it and lock its missile above.

History

Striker entered in service in 1976 within the units of Artillerie of the BAOR ( British army off the Rhine ). Since, they were transferred to the armor-plated Arme cavalry ( Royal armoured Corps ) and equip from now on the armor-plated regiments of recognition.

Striker is equipped with 10 missiles Swingfire (including five at station) of a range of 4.000 Mr.

Smoke dischargers: 1 series of 4 canister launchers on each side of the turret

Equipment

The Scorpion is equipped to fight in environment NBC. It is also equipped with a system of aiming with intensifier of light
