FRA Paolo Sarpi
Pietro Paolo Sarpi , known as FRA Paolo, historian, born with Venice on August 14th 1552, dead on January 15th 1623 was a Venetian patriot, scholar, scientist and author of a history of the Concile of Thirty.
Youth at Servites
It was born Pietro Sarpi in Venice, wire of a tradesman. He was orphan young person. Being unaware of the opposition of the remainder of its family, it entered to the servites, where it took the name of FRA Paolo, to old thirty years. It did not support less than three hundred and four twenty theses. In 1579, it was sent to Rome for businesses in connection with the reform of its kind. He studied all sciences and became in 1585 public prosecutor of his kind.
Venice in conflict with the pope
As from 1597, it stood as defender of Venice in his contentions with the pope Paul V. The republic appointed it its consulting theologist, then member of the Court of the Ten. It had to face excommunication during the conflict. With the University of Padoue, it met Galileo Galilei, which became his/her friend.
Clement dies in March 1605, and the attitude of the pope Paul V is regarded as threatening by extending its prerogatives. In January 1606, a nuncio of the pope presents a letter where the pope requires the tender of the Venetian ones.

, In 1607, having been wounded by assassins, it was treated with the expenses of the State. Its complete works were published in Naples, 1790, 24 v, in-8. They are with the index in Rome.
The history of the council of Thirty was translated into French by Courayer, 1736, and was refuted by the Pallavicino cardinal.
