FRA Bartolomeo
Baccio della Porta , more known under the name of FRA Bartolomeo (born on March 28th, 1472 with Florence - died on October 31st, 1517 with Pian' di Mugnone) is an Italian painter.
He is known also under the name of FRA Bartolomeo di San Marco .
Its life is closely related to its city, Florence and its work, at the period of the First Rebirth.
It already obtained great successes in its art, when pulled by preachings of Savonarole it leaves the brush to be done religious. It takes in 1500 the dress of Saint Dominique in the Couvent San Marco of Florence, and it does not devote any more its talent but to religious subjects. One estimates especially his Saint Marc and his Saint Sebastien. Precursor of Raphaël, it excels in the color and the relief and the art of draped. It is the first which makes use of the mannequin with spring. Two of its tables are with the Musée of Louvre.
