FOR THE THIRD TIME Nord-Pas-de-Calais

The FOR THE THIRD TIME Nord-Pas-de-Calais is the network FOR THE THIRD TIME of the administrative area Nord-Pas-de-Calais. It is about the densest network after that of Île-de-France.

It is organized out of star around the agglomeration inhabitant of Lille, principal Agglomération of the area and fourth French agglomeration by its population; only four lines do not leave Lille. Some of these lines are operated by the National company of the Belgian railroads (SNCB).

TERGV

In optics to connect all the cities from the coast to Lille in less than one hour, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais set up a innovating system: TERGV. Certain traffics FOR THE THIRD TIME use, in agreement with the railway owner the SNCF, the line at high speed North-Europe at the beginning of Lille-Europe. This allows, by the hiring of quotas of places on board TGV or by use of its own oars, to connect Lille to Arras, Calais, Boulogne-sur-Mer and Dunkirk in less than one hour.

Operation TER-MER

The District council of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais proposes three (or four, according to the years) weekends per annum operation TER-MER. It is a question of taking FOR THE THIRD TIME for 1 euro, and thus of making it possible all to benefit from the train to go to the beach. The station of arrival, a shuttle ensures the connection between the station and the beaches. The operation benefitted 50.000 travellers in 2005.

FOR THE THIRD TIME student

To allow the students to go on their places of studies, the District council of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais offers to refund with half, or completely for the stock-brokers, the quarterly subscription with the SNCF. The files of inscriptions are available in the various stations of the area.

Outlines

In the diagram of regional transport adopted by the District council in May 2006, it is envisaged:
  • to double and electrify Calais - Dunkirk
  • to create two new lines between Arras and Cambric and between Douai and Orchies
  • to reopen the connection between Béthune and Bruay-la-Buissière
  • to intensify the traffic between Lille and Lens in the optics of the opening of the Louvre 2 in 2009 by creating a line given rhythm between these two cities
  • to create a new connection TERGV (see above) between Fourmies/Maubeuge and Lille (to pass from 1:30 at approximately 45 minutes). This connection would use the future line of railway tests to build close to Valencian.
  • the setting for benefit of this dense network to create a network of Tram-train exceeding FOR THE THIRD TIME the borders of the agglomeration by using the ways and penetrating directly in the cities of the agglomeration (the center of Lille initially) thanks to new ways of tram.
