The FOR THE THIRD TIME Brittany is the network FOR THE THIRD TIME of the administrative area Brittany.

The conventionality Area - the SNCF

In accordance with the Law of orientation on the inland transports, the Area Brittany is the organizing authority of public transport interurban since 2002.

For this reason, it passes a convention with transport, and in particular the SNCF with regard to the rail-bound transport, in order to ensure the financing of this public service and to define the offer of transport and the tariffs paid by the travellers.

Convention 2002-2006

The area Brittany had passed the first convention with the SNCF over the period 2002-2006, during which more than 240 million euros were invested to ensure the acquisition of rolling stock and the restoration of oars in service.

This convention saw a growth of 25% of the traffic, since the SNCF passed from: 17000 with: 21000 travellers per day between 2002 and 2006. 20% of these travellers are former users of the car.

Convention 2007-2013

The Area Brittany and the SNCF signed on March 13rd, 2007 a convention organizing the regional Public service railway over the period 2007-2013.

72 million euros will be thus poured by the Area in 2007, that is to say more than 9 euros per voyage.

New convention envisages the financing of the acquisition of 23 oars standard railcar AGC Z 27500, for an amount of 100 million euros, thus ensuring the renewal of the totality of the railway rolling stock of the regional network FOR THE THIRD TIME for 2009.

These materials will be maintained in a new workshop of maintenance established in Gare Rennes
