FORTRAN 95

The language FORTRAN remains very much used in the field of the scientific computation because of the very great number of source libraries available in this language. However its users wanted to add to it to the wire of time the interesting ideas used in other languages. That gave FORTRAN 90, then FORTRAN 95.

FORTRAN 95 takes again the extensions already defined in FORTRAN 90 and adds to it:

  • principal Addition:

    • Order and construction FORALL

  • secondary Additions:

    • function CPU_TIME
    • automatic release memory of dynamic tables
    • function SIGN distinguishes between +0 and -0 (!)

The reports/ratios ISO defining Fotran 95 are the TR 15580 and the TR 15581
