FIPRESCI is the International federation of the cinematographic press, which gathers film criticisms of the whole world, that is to say approximately 300 members.

At the time of principal the international Cinema festivals, a jury of its members decrees a price FIPRESCI.

In addition, it decrees since 1999 a Grand Prix of best film of the year, created to support the riskiest, original and personal cinema. Following a vote of its members, the price is decreed with the opening of the Festival of San Sebastián (Spain), cofounder of the price.

The head office of the FIPRESCI is with Munich (Germany).
