FIAT Tipo
FIAT Tipo is the compact model of car manufactured by FIAT of 1988 with 1995.
History
Tipo appeared in January 1988, was altered in 1993 when appeared the version 3 doors. It then accepted new headlights and an interior of better invoice, which was not a luxury when the first cockpits are known, certainly solid but of poor quality.However, in 1989, it is elected European Voiture of the year.
The tariffs of Tipo spread out from 66.700 to 120.900 francs French in 1994 for the model with engine gasoline.
The FIAT Tipo was used as a basis for FIAT Tempra (a rather massive version 4 doors of Tipo) and for the Half-compartment drawn by Pininfarina.
The FIAT Tipo was erased without noise in 1995 and left room to the duet Bravo/Brava. A little forgotten today, Tipo would deserve a fuller recognition on behalf of the public. This disaffection has nevertheless also advantages for those which seek compact serious and solid occasion, since the prices are very low.
One can note that it was also marketed under Tofas name in Turkey and was produced with 50000 specimens.
For in love ones with Tipo on any scale, it should be known that the reducer Burago marketed Tipo with the 1/43e and one with the 1/24e. Although not being perfect quality, they will satisfy the amateurs of the kind who are ready to run the purses of exchange.
Characteristics
Tipo initiates at FIAT the concept of Cocooning , i.e. that of a car pleasant to live for an small family. Its principal competitors were Volkswagen Golf, the Peugeot 306, the Renault 19 and the Citroen ZX. It takes over with dignity FIAT Ritmo in being elected the car of the year 1989.Its principal assets are a low price, an original drawing which age well and a habitability record in the category of the compact ones. Its handling is healthy, its general reliability is not to call into question, which in fact thus a reasonable car.
On the other hand, its engines are rather voracious while carburizing (in particular 1.4 gasoline with carburettor) for performances right in the average.
Various models
Tipo is thus the car of a good father of family but she proposes also versions dévergondées such as the Sedicivalvole (16 Italian valves) of 2 liters and 140 ch. Ces alternatives are less known general public than those of these above mentioned rivals than are R19 16V, VW Golf GTi or the 306XSi.Apart from this sporting, the range also proposes one 1.1 of 55 ch, one 1.4 IE of 69 ch, one 1.6 IE of 75 ch like one 1.8 IE of gasoline 103 ch. Range
The Tipo range is composed of 6 levels of equipment:
- the Pop of line entry, stripped enough, with the 1.4 and the 1.7D
- the S equipped with 2 electric panes and with a closing centralized with power-assisted steering as of July 1993.
- SX with interior velvet, anti fogs before and adjustable wheel.
- the SLX , which adds the rims electric aluminum and the rétros
- the WP , for Granturismo with seats sport, tires cuts low, and moteurs1.8ie and turbodiesel 1.9. The WP dissociates outside by feet black mediums of case as well as a wheel three branches.
- the 16V equipped temporarily with one 1.8 then 2liters. It is distinguished from other Tipo by its ABS and its rear lights reds (red and black on the others).
Tipo also knew an Estivale version, traditional at FIAT as well as a DGT, near to the SX but equipped with a digital meter considered illegible with the sun. In July 1994, for the year 1995, the power-assisted steering is generalized with POP while the engine output is increased (1.4 of 69 with 71ch, 1.6 of 75 with 76ch, 1.7D of 57 with 58ch, 1.9TD of 90 with 92ch; only the 1.8 and 1.9D remain with respectively 103 and 65ch) In March 1995, " gros" engines 1.8 and 2.0 are removed while the range is reduced to 2 completions: Start (power-assisted steering, side rods and electric front panes on 3portes) and Quartz (front +vitres electric on 5portes, centralized locking and bench 60/40)
In October 1995 the last models are imported. The variation 4portes with Tempra trunk is stopped 1 year later.
