History
The name Fürstenfeldbruck is composed of the two parts “Fürstenfeld” and “Bruck”.
Fürstenfeld (" Feld of Fürsten" = “Fields of the Prince”) comes from the monastery of “Fürstenfeld”. This monastery was founded in 1263 by the family reigning of Bavaria de Wittelsbach. Until secularization in 1803, this monastery was managed by the Ordre cistercian.
The medieval small village of “Bruck” (" Pont"), located close to the monastery was built close to an important road bridge for the salt trade. This village received the right to hold of the markets in 1306. Only after secularization in 1803, an important civil administration could be established. September 30th 1935 “Fürstenfeldbruck” became city. The importance of the city increased with the construction of an aerodrome in the years 1940, the Fürstenfeldbruck Air Bases, and after the Second world war with the construction of the regional network of the trains of Munich.
