Fégréac

Fégréac is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire.

The inhabitants of the commune name the Fégréacais and Fégréacaises .

Geography

The relief strongly marks the communal landscape. It is marked by the passage of the rivers and principal brooks: the Unpleasant in western limit; Isac and the Channel from Nantes to Brest in southern limit; the brook Dréneuc through the territory, in northern limit of the borough.

The high points are occupied the most timbered zones, while the low points are marked by the wetlands and the marshes. Urbanization niche in particular on the slopes of the small valleys.

The borough of Fégréac benefits from a natural headland at the edge of the marsh of Motais (where the brook of Dréneuc runs), which confers a point of view and an environment of quality to him since the northern fringe.

The commune is characterized by a dispersion of its structure built in many hamlets: the borough includes/understands only 35% of the communal population.

The old center of Fégréac was structured around the road Redon - Saint-Nazaire which crossed the borough. It gathers a dense built unit, R+1 generally joint and established with alignment. This original structure forms an historical center and commercial around the church, located at the intersection of the old RD773 and the RD 324. The borough extended on both sides from the old center, mainly towards the south: initially along the ways, then in the form of allotments.

History

The territory was occupied as of the Gallo-Roman time: the town of Durétie extends on two banks from Unpleasant, Fégréac and Rieux. Moreover, the Roman way Valves - Blain crosses the commune in its northern part. The vestiges of this civilization are destroyed during the cruel invasions. There remain many vestiges of this time. Moreover, the commune is crossed by the ways of Saint-Jacques-with-Compostelle.
