Féérune
Féérune ( Faerûn in English) is one of the continents located on the planet Abeir-Toril in the fantastic world of the forgotten Royaumes created by ED Greenwood. It is usually used by the fantastic authors of adventures to make evolve/move their characters and their intrigues.
Geography
The continent of Féérune is vast, measuring more: 5500 km of are in west and: 4000 km of north in the south, including extreme deserts, dense forests extending as far as the eye can see, of imposing mountains and brilliances lakes and seas. It is in this world that the inhabitants of Féérune live each day to cultivate the ground, to serve as beer to the commoners of the tavern, to maintain art the conversation, to study the magic or to discover treasures hidden as a combatant monsters and animals in the deepest keeps.Féérune is divided into several areas having their own characteristics. In the south of the continent, the thick jungles of Chult hide some of the wildest animals of the Kingdoms and the plains of the savanna of the Shaar shelter creatures which are not it less. In north, those which visited the jewels which are Eauprofonde and Lunargent will be able to be made carry by the cold penetrating of the mountains of the Valbise if they do not take guard. The large desert of Anauroch assoiffe adventurers in search of lost treasures. The regions of the Be worth, of the Sembie and of the Cormyr raise of a more traditional medieval-fantastic framework. The inhabitants of the coasts of the inland sea of the Stars Déchues remain on the alert against a possible pirate raid.
The geographical aspect of Féérune recalls a moyenâgeuse Europe as well as resemblances to the minor Asia due to some characteristics of the people comparable with the civilization of this time, but guard all the same its amalgam of characteristics making this part of the world detailed and rich.
Populate
This part of the Kingdoms saw several powerful lines drawing up (for example the dynasty Obarskyr of Cormyr, and multiple empires to fall (like Néthéril). For several, the history of Féérune is limited to the evolution of the human race on this continent, although at the time when those still lived in caves, the civilizations advanced in magic and technology like the elves or the dwarves thrived, without speaking about the people considered as not-civilized.Each part of Féérune easily has its own inhabitants having all of the physical or psychological features different returning the identification from a possible person. A large person, having the pale skin, the blue hair color fire or straw, eyes hazel nuts or, slowly speaking and having an attraction for the magic or the jewels will come from north about the Côte from the Swords, while with the Calimshan people will have a basanée skin, the most of the time black hair.
Magic
The majority of Fééruniens never learn how to make magic, but it affects in a way or another their life without them of it being necessarily conscious. A magus assisting the duke of a county could make very well fall the rain to help agriculture, or to launch a fate to follow the movements of the one of his enemies. The clerks and priests of this world use as for them a primarily divine magic, being only the canalizing ones of the power of their god, good or bad. They as well can ressusciter a person just fallen to the combat as to raise an army of skeletons to attack a village.
The presence of widespread magic artefacts a little everywhere on the continent makes this world as dangerous as lucrative for the adventurers in search of knowing or being able. Magic gates of old disappeared civilizations are found at several places, sometimes allowing a teleportation towards another place of this world or another plan of existence.
The omnipresence of magic does not deliver however the people of its superstitions, and the magi and wizards are generally avoided and feared. In addition, the common people often do not make the distinction between a magician studying the magic and an enchanter controlling it instinctively.
Organizations
It happens that groups of people having the same interests or the same religious beliefs, or simply working towards a common end are combined to form influential organizations on the continent. The purpose of the Zhentarim or the Red Sorciers of Thay is the domination of the world, and takes the means necessary to arrive there. The Ménestrels try to keep balance with Féérune between the forces of the good and the evil, and preach justice.Several other minor or local organizations strew this world, like the Culte of the Dragon or the Voleurs of the Shade, but their influence is only limited.
Creatures
Féérune is the cradle of the life. Many races there developed and thrived, like the human ones and the elves, or the giants, the dragons and the sahuagins… But the bestiary of this imaginary world does not stop there.
