Fámjin

Fámjin is a village of the Faroe Islands. In February 2005, it counts 113 inhabitants.

It is located on the west coast of the island of Suðuroy, in the south of the archipelago (61° 31 ' 35" NR, 6° 52 ' 37" W).

Fámjin is known to be the place where the Merkið , future Drapeau of the Faroe Islands, was hoisted for the first time by Jens Oliver Lisberg, on June 22nd, 1919. This specimen is preserved in the church built in 1876.
