Extremely of Illange

The extremely of Illange on the common of the same name in the French department of the the Moselle was built between 1905 and 1910 by the Germans after the annexation of the Moselle.

The fort could shelter 3 companies of Infanterie and included/understood a battery of 4 guns of 100 mm long. Its main mission was, with the Fort of Koenigsmacker to cover the Fort of Guentrange which protected the town of Thionville.

The fort of Illange was integrated in the Secteur strengthened of Thionville of the Ligne Maginot in the Thirties.
