Exodus (album)

Exodus is the fourth album of Bob Marley & the Wailers (third album studio), left in 1977.

After the Spalling hammer Jamaica Concert of December 5th, 1976 and the attempted murder to which it had escaped the two days before, Bob fuya Jamaica for a long exile which was going to last one year. It took refuge in London with its musicians. Earl Smith and Donald Kinsey left (Earl had joined Bunny Wailer), a new guitarist was committed: Junior Marvin. In spite of the degradation of the relations between Rita and Bob, due to its connection with Cindy Breakspeare (for which he wrote Turn Your Lights Down Low ), the sessions were very profitable and twenty songs were recorded.

Not being able to choose among these twenty new pieces, Bob decided to make two albums of them. Those which he considered innovating more would leave initially. The others would constitute later one year the album Kaya . These two albums are thus very different from Natty Dread and Rastaman Vibration , recorded in Jamaica. Here, the mixing was made immediately after the recording of the song. On several titles, Carlton Barrett used the new style " rockers" , very popular in Jamaica. For The Heathen and One/People Get Ready Coils, of the outlines recorded with the Harry J Studio of Kingston in September 1975 were used.

A great round was to accompany the exit by Exodus. This one started well and the group furrowed Europe in May and June, with in particular a series in concerts given to the Rainbow Theater of London, of which one was filmed by Island and was diffused in Europe. But in July, the American round was cancelled following the discovery of the cancer of Bob and its amputation of the toe.

Exodus , with its face has militant and its lighter face B, was an enormous success, even if it were sold less although Rastaman Vibration . There remains today the most famous album of Bob Marley. In 1998, it was named better album of the XXe century by the Time Magazine.
