Exocarpos cupressiformis
Exocarpos cupressiformis , is an endemic tree in Australia, of the family of the Santalaceae . It pushes in the dry forests of the east coasts.
It is a small tree - or a large bush - semiparasite on the roots of other species. The feulles are reduced to small scales and in fact the stems make photosynthesis. It resembles coarsely a Cyprès.
Its flowers are gathered in small bouquets; the fruits are spherical nuts on a short stalk which when the fruit matures, grows bigger and becomes red. it resembles a small cherry and is edible
