Excursions daguerriennes
the Excursions Daguerriennes is the title of an album of engravings published by the optician and daguerreotypist No5el Paymal Lerebours between 1841 and 1843.
The work appears in two volumes under the exact title of Excursions daguerriennes, sights and the most remarkable monuments of the Earth , and gathers the engravings copied on Daguerréotypes of various places and world monuments taken by some pioneers of photography.
The sights taken with the Daguerreotype, therefore into positive direct, are not reproducible and can be diffused only via engraved copies, or Lithographie S. Ainsi, Lerebours decides as of 1840 to work on the publication of reproductions of Daguerréotypes, gathering brought back sights of Egypt, but also of monuments Paris iens. Manual engravings are carried out in particular by Goupil-Fesquet and Frederic Martens. Thanks to the processes of his/her friend Fizeau, having developed several techniques of direct or indirect transformation of the plate daguerrienne into board to engrave, the copies can be printed in series.
