Ex Machina

Ex Machina is a multidisciplinary company, founded in 1993, by the director Robert Lepage with the group of his/her collaborators.

Aiming and mission

The founders of Ex Machina make the bet that the mixture of the performing arts, just as confrontation between them artists of various disciplines and also with scientists, authors and creators of other disciplines, is an essential condition for creation. The company thus brings together film producers, authors, actors, acrobats, musicians, contorsionists, computer graphics experts, marionnettists, scenographers, singers of opera, technicians, etc It unites the song or the music with the cinema, it video and the multi-media one. Its aiming is the sudden appearance of new artistic forms and its mission is to be posed as a framework which supports this sudden appearance.

The Dalhousie Barracks

For its activities, Ex Machina lays out of the Barracks Dalhousie which was inaugurated on June 2nd, 1997.

This center of multidisciplinary creation was established with the Old man-port of Quebec, in a rich space of history, with the restoration of a fire station to the abandonment, from where its name: the Barracks Dalhousie . It is there that Ex Machina develops to with it all its projects and all its creations. It is a studio of turning, a workshop to assemble decorations or to repeat spectacles. It is a point of rallying for creators and artists who come from the whole world to contribute to the productions of Ex Machina .
