Everyone wants to take its place

Everyone wants to take its place is a Jeu televised of French design, diffused on France 2 since July 3rd 2006 of the Monday to Saturday to be left to 12:00, on TV5 Monde of the Monday to Friday to 10:15, produced by Effervescence & Air Productions and presented by Nagui. It was carried out by Gerard Pulliccino, Tristan Carne and Didier Frohely.

Principle of the play

Six candidates finally play each day for a place ( the Duel ) while answering questions of general culture. During this final, the challenger meets the champion , i.e. the candidate who gained during the preceding emission will try to take his place to him, as the title of the emission indicates it. This champion is ensured to set out again with all his profits, except in the event of victory of the challenger; he can then try to take again his title by proposing a sum to him which the challenger must accept to keep his place.

Qualifs

The phase of Qualifs makes it possible to the televiewer to make knowledge with the six candidates. Two questions of general culture are put to each candidate, which has the choice between three formulas to answer:
  • Duet : the candidate sees himself proposing two answers. He gains 1 point in the event of good answer.

  • Square : the candidate sees himself proposing four answers. He gains 3 points in the event of good answer.
  • Cash : the candidate answers directly the question, without no proposal being made to him. He gains 5 points in the event of good answer.

The four candidates having gained the most points are qualified for the following phase. In the event of equality, the champion intervenes and designates to it (or them) candidate (S) who will qualify himself for the continuation of the emission.

Compèt'

The candidates, before turning, were warned that they were going to answer questions about a precise topic, and documented themselves consequently. Last nine questions will be asked to them, to which they will have to answer via a touchscreen, a keyboard of computer or orally (orally only when the champion allots the question to each player).

The first eight questions are put simultaneously to all the candidates: three questions Square Duet , three questions and two questions Cash . The champion allots then an additional question to each candidate among the four cards it has. These questions Cash have this of private individual that in the event of bad answer, the candidate loses 5 points; they can thus reverse the tendency and make to red lantern the challenger. It is also a means for the champion of supporting the candidates whom it likes and of putting sticks in the wheels of those which it does not have desire for facing in duel.

There still, in the event of equality, the champion intervenes and designates his challenger for the final duel.

The Duel

At the time of the Duel, four topics are proposed to the two candidates. The champion chooses the topic of the questionnaire of his challenger, as well as the topic of his own questionnaire. This choice is important because the more important the number of points is, the more the profits will rise (with 100 euros height per marked point).

Each questionnaire is composed of six questions, to which the candidate has, there still, the possibility of choosing between the formulas Duo , Carré or Cash . The challenger answers his questions initially, but the good answers will be revealed only at the end of the play; the champion must thus estimate the number of points which its challenger registered, and thus to know if it can be risked with formulas Cash or if it can, on the contrary, to play prudence and to ensure its backs.

Once the champion answered (the good answers with its questions are immediately given the finished question), one checks those of the challenger. If the number of points registered by the challenger is lower or equal to that of the champion, it lost and the champion preserves his title, boxing 100 € per point marked by his challenger.

On the other hand, if the challenger marked more points than the champion, it gained. However the champion with the possibility of repurchasing his title with the candidate who has just beaten it. For that, he proposes to give part of his kitty to the challenger, who has the choice between two options:

  • is to accept the proposal of the champion: the champion preserves his title like his undervalued gold mine of his proposal; the challenger sets out again with 100 € per marked point, plus the money given by the champion.

  • is to refuse the proposal of the champion: the champion loses his title and sets out again with the integrality of his kitty; the challenger recovers the title and boxes 100 € per marked point.

Abroad

Was the concept of the play repurchased in the United States by Michael Davies (producing of Which wants to gain million? or power off ten in the United States). It was also sold in England, in Canada, in Spain, in Italy, in Portugal…
