Everyone speaks about it was a French emission of maintenance ( talk show in Franglais) presented by Thierry Ardisson and produced by Catherine Barma. She was diffused on France 2 saturdays of second part of evening of September 1998 in July 2006.

At the time of the first season (1998-1999), it is presented in the form of an emission of societal debates; it is in September 1999 that it takes its format of talk show .

The organizer receives there the personalities which make the topicality of the moment: actors, singers, writers, politicians, sportsmen, etc the guests there tell their life, make their promotion and are confronted with the famous interviews sets of themes. The emission acquires little by little a reputation of provocation in particular because the organizer does not hesitate to raise to the political guests questions about their Private life and sexual.

Initially accompanied by Laurent Ruquier, Linda Hardy, Eric and Ramzy, Kad and Olivier, Thierry Ardisson then have as an assistant the humorist Laurent Baffie until the end of the emission.

Original aspects of the emission

Ritual

In addition to the strange interviews and impertinence sympathetic nerve of the organizer, Everyone speaks about it is a talk show which is dissociated by many practices original and amusing suitable for the emission (gestures, sentences worships, ritual) like by its at the same time elaborate and ludic sound preparing. End of the emission

Following a disagreement with Patrick De Carolis (president of France Televisions) about the new clause of exclusiveness concerning the organizers in the public service, Thierry Ardisson is constrained to leave the chain and thus to stop Everyone speaks about it in July 2006, this last not wishing to put an illegitimate term at its other emission, 93, Faubourg St Honore , diffused on the chain Paris Première.

Adaptations abroad

The emission thus disappears from the French audiovisual landscape in a disconcerting way after eight years of success, but it continues despite everything its televisual existence in the form of foreign variations, with first of all the appearance of a Québécois version; profitable attempt which will be reiterated thereafter with the creation of an astonishing Lebanese version. In France, it was replaced since the September 16th 2006 by One is not lying , on the same time slot, realized by Serge Khalfon and not produced by Catherine Barma, animated by Laurent Ruquier surrounded by Jean-Luc Lemoine, Florence Foresti, Michel Polac, Eric Zemmour, Frederic Martin and Mustapha El Atrassi.

The criticism of Daniel Schneidermann

In its heading Media published in the daily newspaper Release , the journalist specialist in the media draws up a very hard assessment of the emission. Titrated “Landscape of after-Ardisson”, its article described Everyone speaks about it like a “emission chatoyante, multifacettes, polysemous, with its batch of inventions, fulgurances, faintness and perversity, (...) a major audio-visual work of the passed decade”, but still like “the praise of the orgy and coke, or the sorry observation of universal corruption (which) became thus, week after week, of the indisputable axioms”.

In this article, its criticism relates to two essential points: the role of the emission like window for the world of the edition and its responsibility in the rise for the Communautarisme in France. On the first point, Daniel written Schneidermann: “Ardisson, last June, were the Untouchable one. Philosophers, ministers, former ministers, candidates with the candidatures, sociologists, lampoonists, investigators, plotters, discoverers of plots, directors of drafting: for any author, a passage at Ardisson made gleam the promise of the more étincelants success. Not question of attacking with the words of Ardisson, the capacity of Ardisson, obviously Ardisson, and more precisely with the long influence of Ardisson on the public debate. ”

With the publication of a book peeling the televised appearances of Thierry Ardisson, Daniel Schneidermann wants of it for proof that the organizer is not any more “the Untouchable one”. Being based on the work of Jean Birnbaum and Raphaël Chevènement, the journalist analyzes “the obsession of the ethnic determinism” like the “major topic of the ardissonism” and measurement “how much Ardisson contributed to the Community crispation of the French company”: “By systematically invite on its plates the Jew, the Moslem and Black of service, if possible face to face, and if possible by leading them to throw water glasses to the figure, Ardisson perhaps has enjoint at a French company which inevitably would not have thought of it all alone, to reproduce in its center the same tensions. ”
