Evan James
Evan James (known also under the name bardic of Ieuan ap Iago ) (1809 - 1878), Tisserand and poet of Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, wrote the words of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (" Country of my ancètres"), the National anthem of the Wales.
According to the legend, his/her son James James, walked one day of January 1856 on banks of the river Rhondda and the melody of Hen Wlad fy Nhadau came to him to mind. When he spoke with his father about the air, Evan James who been able to compose of the words for the air which is the current Welsh national anthem. Evan James was Tisserand of trade.
A memorial with Evan James and its son, in the form of the Muses of Poetry and the Music, is in Ynys Angharad Park, Pontypridd.
