Eutectoid

A transformation eutectoid is a transformation of phase into solid phase which proceeds at constant temperature.

The elements are in solid Solution at high temperature. At the temperature eutectoid several phases are formed having each one a different composition.

For example for the steels this transformation with place with 727°C. Austenite is transformed into Cémentite (Fe3C) and into ferrite. The lamellate compound obtained is named " Pearlite ".
