Europole (Grenoble)
Europole is the Quartier of businesses of the agglomeration of Grenoble. It was created in the Nineties when Alain Carignon was then Maire of the city. He is the district " moderne" of Grenoble. Overall surface clear: : 205000m ² of which: 55000m ² of residences.
The grounds currently constituting the historical triangle of the Europole district were occupied until the end of the Eighties by the marshalling yard of the SNCF, the buildings of a shipping company (SERNAM), a some small manufacture and gas works of which in particular breweries side street Pierre Sémard. This district dedicated to the tertiary sector has also good number of residences.
Geography and organization
The district is located at the west of the Center-ville of Grenoble, close to the district Berriat and St Bruno. This position is strategic since the Gare of Grenoble makes the border between the downtown area and Europole close which the pole of Research " is; Minatec". The district is accessible moreover by the highways A480 and A48. This strategic position does of it one of the most expensive districts (4000€/m ² in 2007) with the hyper-center and the district of the Barracks of Good. The principal artery serving the district europole is the avenue of the Senior Louis Weil.
