European university of Strasbourg

The University of Strasbourg (UdS) , or European University of Strasbourg (EU) , (the final name is not fixed yet) is a merger plan of the three universities of Strasbourg (ULP, UMB and the USSR) for a single university, which should be installation for the year 2009.

The objective seems to be to create a new more visible, more powerful university and nearer to the students: fusion of the services, redistribution of the components, restoration of pedagogy, bringing together of the research laboratories…

This project is still far from being succeeded. It appears in the four-year plans of the three universities. For the time being, the discussion relates at the same time on the fusion appropriateness such and to its possible methods. Indeed, it is about an ambitious project which raises many questions.

This fusion does not go from oneself. Indeed, the stake is that it is done in the interest of all the actors of the three universities.

Work groups

7 inter-academics work groups were made up:

  • Offer of formation
  • Political Scientist and university valorization
  • Life
  • Documentation
  • International relations (opening and partnerships)
  • Management (GRH, Finances, Real estate)
  • Piloting and governorship

Moreover, groups known as technical were create to provide a logistical support for the caused groups.

  • validation of the four-year draft contract 2009-2012

  • configuration of CA of UdS

autumn 2008

  • vote coming to a conclusion about the suppression of the 3 establishments and creation UdS at January 1st, 2009

  • election of CA of UdS

January 1st, 2009

  • creation of provisional UdS

  • administration

January 2009

  • election of the presidency

  • principle of the exercise of new competences
  • adoption of the statutes
