European system of central banks
The European Système of the central banks ( SEBC ) is composed of the European Central bank (ECB) and of the 27 national central banks (BCN) of the Member States of the European Union.
In fact the SEBC determines the Monetary policy of the Euro area. The ECB carries out the decisions of the SEBC and the BCN are charged to make apply the decisions of the ECB to the national scales.
The main aim of the SEBC is to maintain the price stability in the euro area, and without damage with this objective, to ensure a durable and balanced growth.
This SEBC holds and manages the official resources, mainly in currency S, of the Member States of the European Union which adhered to the euro.
A subset of the SEBC is the EuroSystème; it gathers the central banks of the Euro area. It was created because all the countries of the European Union, which had vocation to adopt the Euro like currency, did not do it yet.
