European nights of the night butterflies

The European Nuits of the night butterflies ( European Moth Nights , EMN) are a demonstration organized once per year, the observers of butterflies must collect or observe the night butterflies during one night on their favorite sites in Europe; the data must be transmitted to the power station of the EMN. They must collaborate with other colleagues and integrate people interested by research on the ground.

A demonstration with the following objectives

Of the national and international contacts must be maintained between the entomologists and friends nature; a team work should be carried out.
To draw up instantaneous on broad scale of the night butterflies flying at the same time, with an special attention on their conservation and the protection of their habitats.
the collected data and the analyzes must be accessible to the public.

First European Nights of the night butterflies (from August 12th to 16th 2004)

Participants 154 of 21 country. Number of place of capture 159 of 23 country. Many species of moths (Macroheterocera) 850 (31% of the European species). Results and analyzes: even addresses Internet. Also the review „Atalanta “(July 2005), 36 (1/2): S. 311-358 (OF - Marktleuthen).

Second European Nights of the night butterflies (June 30th at July 4th, 2005)

Participants 400 of 23 country. Number of place of capture 380 of 24 countries. Many species of moths (Macroheterocera) 975 (36% of the European species). Results and analyzes: even addresses Internet. Internet. Also the review „Atalanta “(August 2007), 38 (1/2): S. 229-277 + 309 (OF - Marktleuthen).

Third European Nights of the night butterflies (April 27th at May 1st, 2006)

Participants 392 of 26 countries. Number of place of capture 436 of 29 countries. Many species of moths (Macroheterocera) 553 (20% of the European species). Results and analyzes: even addresses Internet.
