the European macroseismic scale , in its shortened form EMS98 , is a scale of measurement of the intensity of a Earthquake starting from its effects on the man, on the objects, the environment and the buildings. This scale adopted in 1998 comprises 12 degrees and replaces the scale Medvedev-Sponheuer-Karnik.
