European commission for the effectiveness of justice
The European commission for the effectiveness of justice (CEPEJ) brings together experts of the 47 Member States of the the Council of Europe and prepares tools allowing to improve the effectiveness and operation of justice in Europe.
Its tasks consist with: - to analyze the results of the legal systems; - to identify the problems which they encounter; - to define concrete means to improve, on the one hand, the performance evaluation of the legal systems, on the other hand the operation of these systems; - to improve the implementation of the existing legal instruments of the Council of Europe and to suggest, if necessary, of new instruments; - to bring if necessary, at the request of a State, an assistance.
To carry out these various tasks, the CEPEJ develops indicators, collects and data analysis, defines measurements and means of evaluation, compiles documents (reports/ratios, opinion, guiding lines, action plans, etc), weaves bonds with the research institutes and the information centers, invites qualified personalities, of ONG, carries out hearings, develops networks of professionals of justice.
