European academy of philately

The European Académie of philately (AEP) is a association which want to ensure the promotion of the Philatélie and studies philatelic.

History

Created in 1977 on the initiative of Jean Storch and Robert Françon, two French philatelists, the Académie of postal Studies included/understood the January 28th 1978 24 academicians founders including 7 foreigners and wanted to be made meet philatelists, editors, merchants and philatelic leaders of federations of all the Europe to promote this leisure and the studies on this topic.

In 1988, it becomes European Académie of philatelic and postal studies (AEEPP). In 2000, it takes the name of European Académie of philately . Not limited of many members, the Academy count 270 members of 34 countries in January 2005.

Organization

Its seat is with the Musée of the Post office, with Paris, like the Académie of founded philately in 1928.

The Academy includes/understands active members elected by the assembly of the members and taking part in the activities of the Academy and demonstrations of promotion of philately. Members of honor can be selected among personalities: former ministers for the stations, managing director of UPU; for example, the prince Rainier III was made member of honor of the AEP in 1997.

Activities

The Academy publishes two reviews;
  • Hyphen on the activities of the AEP
  • Opus which publishes in an annual number of the philatelic and postal studies.

The members of the Academy endeavor to take part in philatelic exposures in Europe.
