European Space Operations Centers
The European Space Operations Centers (ESOC), or in French the European Center of the space operations , is in load of the follow-up of all the space probes which are under the total control of the European space agency (ESA).
It is located at Darmstadt, in Germany.
Presentation
It is the control center of mission for the majority of the space projects of the ESA. It simultaneously supervises usually a half-dozen of projects thanks to a world network of tracking stations of trajectory, network to which belongs also the network Deep Space of NASA.
During the course of the missions, the ESOC proposes corrections of trajectories; it also supervises the trajectories of thousands of remains of space vehicles orbiting around the Earth, and makes it possible to envisage the dangers of collisions.
The Center took more and more importance during this last decade, with the increase in the number of European space missions.
Among the current missions, the ESOC coordinates in particular Mars Express, Rosetta, SMART-1.
