European Institutions

The European Union having become a Political figure , economic and Monetary, it must be controlled by Institution S.

List institutions

According to the treaties, the European institutions are five:

  • the European commission: It takes care of the execution of the decisions, very important role (currently in January 2007, there are 27 police chiefs);

  • the the Council of the European Union (also called the Council of Ministers ): makes the decisions;
  • the the European Parliament: vote the budget and controls the Commission;
  • the Court of justice: take care of the respect of the Community legislation and the application of the treated S;
  • the European Court of Auditors.

In the future modifying treaty, it is expected that two European elements become officially institutions:

  • the European Central bank (ECB): control the fluctuations of the currency Euro (€) of the economic Union and monetarist (UEM).
  • the European Council (or European top): fix the great general orientations, it is composed of the heads of state and government of the 27 Member States of the European Union.

Project of follow-up of the prélégislative activity

The report/ratio of Bernard Carayon of 2006 envisages periodically to set up an instrument panel, updated and available on line, of follow-up of the prélégislative activity of the European institutions, allowing a permanent follow-up of the European texts the profit of the Economic agents, social actors and Citoyen S, as well as governmental and territorial administrations.
