European Foundation for Quality Management

The European Foundation for Quality Management or EFQM , (in French European foundation for the management by quality ) is a European foundation based with Brussels.

It was founded in 1988 by 14 european companies, with the support of the European commission. These companies are: Bosch, BT, Bull, Ciba-Geigy, Dassault, Electrolux, FIAT, KLM, Nestlé, Olivetti, Philips, Renault, Sulzer and Volkswagen.

The EFQM counts aujourdhui more than 700 members. The objective of this non-profit organization is to promote a methodological framework to make it possible its members to evaluate their level of quality and to improve. Its model of autoevaluation is founded on 9 principles (which do not have all same weighting). Many cabinets of management propose with the companies which want to be powerful tools for the autoevaluation according to the model.

AFAQ AFNOR is the official representative of the EFQM in France.
