European Agency for safety and health at the work

The European Agency for safety and health at the work - in English:
European Agency for Safety and Health At Work ( OSHA ) is a Community Agence creates on July 18th, 1994 by a payment of the Council. It is based in Bilbao, in Spain.

The legal base of the activities of the Agency rests in fact on four Council Regulations:

  • the first of 1994 (2062/94)

  • a second who includes/understands 3 new Member States of the European Union in 1995
  • an update of the payment of the Agency with regard to the new provisions of the European Union in financial matters and public access to the documents
  • modifications of the structures of direction and management of the Agency

Description

The number and the diversity of the problems health safety to the work (ST) to which Europe is confronted are too important so that only one Member State or a single institution can face there its resources and its expertise. The continuous improvement of health and safety to work is moreover a key objective of the European policy on social matters and in the field of application. This is why the European Agency for safety and health was founded: to gather and share the considerable sum of knowledge and the information garnered on a European scale on the questions of ST, in particular with regard to the good practices of prevention.

The agency plays a part of catalyst with regard to the production, the analysis and the diffusion of information intended to improve health and safety with work in Europe. In addition to setting up a complete network of sites dedicated to safety and health, the agency deploys campaigns and implements a program of diversified publications, energy of the information papers specialized with the cards of information, and concerning a vast range of problems of ST.

The national focal points, which constitute the organization of ridge as regards ST in their country, coordinate and disseminate information of the agency on the national plan. Moreover, the agency cooperates with a large range of partners, in particular the European commission, other institutions European and European managements and labor, like with international organizations and organizations specialized in health and safety of the whole world.

Role of the Agency

  • to gather and share the sum of knowledge and the information garnered on a European scale on the questions of ST, in particular with regard to the good practices of prevention;
  • production, analysis and the diffusion of information intended to improve health and safety with work in Europe

Organization of the Agency

The Agency is managed by a director and lays out of a board of directors made up representatives of the governments, employers and workers resulting from the 27 Member States, as well as representatives of the European commission. The board of directors consists of an office
