Euroligue of basketball

The Euroligue is the most important competition of club of Basket-ball in Europe, it gathers 24 teams. This competition is half-closed. Indeed, certain clubs have a assured place during a few years. A first turn proceeds in the form of championship by group of 8 teams, in match return ticket. At the conclusion of this first turn the 16 better teams are divided into 4 groups.
Until 2004, the winners of the 4 groups were qualified for the Final Furnace (final to four). From now on, the 4 first meet the 4 second into 1/4 of finale to reach the Final Furnace , which is held in a city defined by advance.

In 2000, a new organization becomes extensive: ULEB. This one, which is an association of the European professional leagues, very often yields with the will of the majority of very large the European clubs, more particularly Italian and Spanish. This league, independent of FIBA, creates for the season a 2000-2001 new competition, Euroligue.This one will see the victory of the Kinder Bologna while the competition always organized by FIBA, the Suproligue, will see the victory of the Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
The competition Co-is since then organized by FIBA although it is the ULEB which of it is mainly representative, so much so that one calls sometimes the competition ULEB Euroleague .
Format of the competition
The 24 teams are gathered in 3 hens, called Poule has, Poule B and Hen C. At the end of the regular season (the 8 teams of each group clash all 2 times, 1 at the house, outside 1), the 5 first of each hen are qualified as well as the best sixth (the best assessment of victories or defeats). One gathers them in 4 hens of 4 where, once again, each team twice plays all the teams of her hen. At the end of these matches, the 2 first of each hen go in quarterfinal. The quarterfinals are played best of the 3 handles, i.e. equips it which reaches 2 victories. The team which finished 1st of her group plays twice in residence. Then, on a ground indicates before the season, is held the Final Furnace: i.e. semi-finals and finales in 3 days.
